Which practice exam should I purchase?

U.S. & Canada (except for California): Use ASWB Practice Tests 1-5, the DSM Booster, and our Ethics Booster. Each practice test contains a unique set of 170 practice questions, rationales, and suggested study links. The Ethics Booster has 45. SWTP practice tests use the clinical exam outline; they've been used by thousands of exam preppers at all exam levels to prepare for and pass the exam!

In California: Use ASWB Practice Tests 1-5, the DSM Booster, and our 75-question California Law and Ethics practice test. On the purchase page, click on "California" to get the California L&E on its own or bundled with other exams.

Where are my purchased/saved/completed exams?

After you've made a purchase, your exams will appear in the drop-down menu on the Your Exams page. Saved and completed exams and exams in progress also appear on the Your Exams page--just scroll down a bit.

Help! I'm having trouble signing up/logging in!

If you're creating an account, be sure to check the "I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" button before hitting "Sign Up." Getting an error message back? Hit "Forgot Password?" to have a new password emailed to you. Still having problems? Write us: info@socialworktestprep.com. Please specify what problem you're encountering, and--to help us troubleshoot--what device and browser you're using. Thanks!

How much to SWTP practice exams cost?

SWTP exams are currently $39 for stand-alone exams. Buying bundled exams saves you a lot of money. The more exams you purchase at once, the more you save. Our best deals are our five-exam bundles, which save you as much as $76! Using a coupon code saves you even more. Try coupon code PRACTICENOW for an additional 5% savings. Connect with SWTP on social media to find even better deals. More details on our pricing page.

How do I know SWTP exams will help me?

Thousands of social workers have passed the social work licensing exam using SWTP. Nothing helps prepare for the exam like real online practice. Our testimonials page and blog collect some of the enthusiastic and grateful response SWTP users have sent in. The most common email we get is a simple, ecstatic, "I Passed! Thank You!!!" You next!

Will SWTP help with my state's exam?

Yes! The exam is national. That includes your state (plus Canada!). The only state-specific item we offer is a practice test for the California Law & Ethics practice test. Unless you're in California, leave that one alone. Everything else--ASWB Exams 1 through 5, and the two booster tests--are designed to help with the ASWB exam, which is administered all over the U.S. and Canada.

SWTP helps with the ASWB exam in every state--here's the list, to help people looking for this answer via a search engine:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Visit your state licensing board website for details.

My credit card keeps getting rejected. What gives?

Not sure! SWTP payments are processed via Stripe. Try contacting them if something misfires during the payment process. Here's Stripe's contact page. The vast majority of purchases go smoothly. Apologies if you're encountering problems!

What material is covered on the exam?

Social work licensing exams cover what may seem like an impossibly wide range of topics. Licensing boards publish samples and content outlines. Take a look at the ASWB site here. SWTP practice exams closely follow this licensing board guidance.

Keep in mind that the main concern of the boards is that licensed social workers don't go out making disasters that the boards then have to answer for. Questions on the exam--the real ones and in SWTP practice exam--are usually close calls that social workers may face on the job. Asking yourself what the board might be screening for (e.g., risky interventions, insensitivity, scope of practice mistakes) is a very good way to work your way to an answer on difficult questions.

How do I purchase the California Law & Ethics Practice Test?

Our ASWB Exams 1-5 are designed for anyone taking the ASWB exam. That's the entire U.S. and Canada. In California, LCSW-bound social workers are also required to take the California Law & Ethics Exams aka the LCSW Law & Ethics Exam (LCLE). To get SWTP's L&E practice test, sign in, go to Purchase Exams, and click on "California." There you'll be able to purchase our California L&E Practice Test on its own or with the any number of additional exams. Good luck!

How do I purchase printed vs. online exams?

SWTP Exams #1-5 are all available in printed books which you can purchase for fast delivery via Amazon. With your book purchase you get free access to the online exams. Printed exams are somewhat pricier than online-only exams. To get started right away with online exams, sign up to create an account and go to Purchase Exams. All SWTP exams and boosters are available there.

How should I begin studying?

You get to take each SWTP exam you purchase three times in timed exam mode (you get unlimited review in untimed study mode). We suggest starting with a real-time online practice exam to gauge your readiness. Then, in study mode, review rationales and suggested study links for all answers, whether or not you got them right on the exam. Since your account expires after 90 days, it makes sense to take the first of the three timed tests you get early on (day 1), the second halfway through your study window. Focus on problem content areas. Take the exam a third time toward your exam date, while still allowing time to review answers. For more studying advice, try our Study Tips page.

How will I know I'm ready to take the real exam?

What makes a passing grade on the licensing exam changes as new exams are offered. Usually, a passing grade is somewhere in the 70% range. So how do you know you're ready? You can never be completely sure. However, once you're able to take a four-hour SWTP practice exam without getting overly exhausted and you're scoring around 80% or above, you can be reasonably confident as you go in for the real thing.
